Blast Mining is a Legendary enchant for Diamond Pickaxe pickaxes. Each time you break a block, it has a chance to break a whole cube of stone and ore around that block as well. Higher levels raise the chance and, up to level IV, the size of the cube.
How to get it#
Blast Mining comes from the Legendary rune. A Legendary rune costs 200,000 XP in the enchant shop and turns into an enchanted book with one of the 31 Legendary enchants in Survival, picked at random, so each rune has a 1 in 31 chance of being Blast Mining. Effect#
Every block you break with the enchanted pickaxe in your main hand rolls the enchant's chance, which is 2.5% per level. The block you mine does not have to be on the block list; even a block of dirt can set it off. On a success the game breaks every listed block inside a cube that includes the block you mined.
The cube is three-dimensional, so it reaches above and below you as well as sideways. Cubes with an even edge (2x2x2 and 4x4x4) cannot sit exactly around the mined block: on each axis they extend one block in a random direction.

The cube is capped at 5x5x5, so level V is a higher chance with the same size as level IV.
Blocks it breaks#
Only these blocks inside the cube are broken; everything else is left in place.

Notes and tips#
- The extra blocks are broken as if you had mined them yourself and cost no tool durability. Only the block you break first wears the pickaxe down.
- Blocks broken by the cube do not trigger Blast Mining again, and they do not trigger Vein Miner either. Telekinesis collects their drops and Smelter smelts them.
- Only the block you break yourself counts toward quest progress; the extra blocks do not.
- Battery Finder rolls once for every block the cube breaks, so the two enchants work well together.
