Timber is a Legendary enchant for Diamond Axe axes. When you break a log with it, there is a 50% chance that the whole tree comes down: every connected log of that wood and the leaves around the top of the tree.
How to get it#
Timber comes from the Legendary rune. A Legendary rune costs 200,000 XP in the enchant shop and turns into an enchanted book with one of the 31 Legendary enchants in Survival, picked at random, so each rune has a 1 in 31 chance of being Timber. See Runes for how the success chance of a rune book is rolled. Timber is also a possible reward in crates (Crates).
Timber has a single level, so its book needs no level reveal.
Effect#
Each time you break a log with the enchanted axe in your main hand, Timber rolls a 50% chance. On a success it does two things at once:
- It breaks every log connected to the one you broke, as long as it is the same type of log, up to 200 logs. Logs count as connected when they touch at a face, or when they sit diagonally next to each other on the same layer.
- It finds the highest log it broke and breaks the matching leaves connected to that spot, up to 300 leaves.
The extra blocks are broken as if you had mined them yourself and cost no tool durability. Only the log you break first wears the axe down.
Woods and matching leaves#
| Log | Leaves removed with it |
|---|---|
| Oak | Oak, Azalea and Flowering Azalea leaves |
| Spruce | Spruce leaves |
| Birch | Birch leaves |
| Jungle | Jungle leaves |
| Acacia | Acacia leaves |
| Cherry | Cherry leaves |
| Dark Oak | Dark Oak leaves |
| Mangrove | Mangrove leaves and Mangrove roots |
| Pale Oak | Pale Oak leaves |
| Crimson stem | Nether Wart blocks |
| Warped stem | Warped Wart blocks |
Logs of newer wood types are handled too, and their own leaves are removed with them (poplar logs remove the red, orange and yellow poplar leaves). Stripped logs and wood blocks do not trigger Timber.
Notes and tips#
- Timber fells one log type at a time: a birch tree growing against an oak tree is left standing when you fell the oak.
- Tree Feller is the other tree enchant: it has a lower cap of 50 logs, accepts any kind of log and does not remove leaves. Both can sit on the same axe.
- Blocks felled by Timber do not trigger Vein Miner, Blast Mining or Timber again. Telekinesis collects their drops, which saves picking up a whole tree.
- Only the log you break yourself counts toward quest progress; the felled blocks do not.
