Vein Miner is a Legendary enchant for Diamond Pickaxe pickaxes. When you break an ore, it also breaks every connected block of the same ore, up to 50 blocks, so a whole vein comes out with one swing.
How to get it#
Vein Miner comes from the Legendary rune. A Legendary rune costs 200,000 XP in the enchant shop and turns into an enchanted book with one of the 31 Legendary enchants in Survival, picked at random, so each rune has a 1 in 31 chance of being Vein Miner. Vein Miner has a single level, so a Vein Miner book needs no level reveal.
Effect#
When you break one of the listed ores with the enchanted pickaxe in your main hand, Vein Miner activates every time (the chance is 100%). It searches outward from the broken block and breaks all connected blocks of the same block type, up to 50 blocks in total. Blocks count as connected when they touch at a face, or when they sit diagonally next to each other on the same layer. Blocks that touch only diagonally above or below are not connected.
The extra blocks are broken as if you had mined them yourself and cost no tool durability. Only the block you break first wears the pickaxe down.

Ancient Debris, stone and every other block do not trigger Vein Miner.
Notes and tips#
- The vein is matched by exact block type. Iron ore and deepslate iron ore are different blocks, so a vein that crosses from stone into deepslate is mined in two steps.
- Blocks broken by Vein Miner do not set off Blast Mining or another Vein Miner, but they do work with the drop enchants: Telekinesis collects their drops and Smelter smelts them.
- Only the block you break yourself counts toward quest progress; the extra blocks do not.
- Compressed Miner (Compressed Miner) compresses what the vein drops once it is in your inventory.
