Spawners on Survival are bought with mob points, placed as blocks, and picked up again with a Silk Touch tool. This page covers the shop, the placement rules and the limits. How to earn mob points is on Mob Points.
Buying a spawner#
Open the Spawner Shop with /spawners, which opens the Spawners shop category directly. (/spawnershop opens the shop's category menu instead; choose Spawners there.) Each spawner is bought with mob points, and the price depends on the mob: 22 mob types are for sale, from 100,000 mob points (Zombie, Skeleton, Spider, Chicken) to 600,000 mob points (Iron Golem, Witch, Vindicator).

You can also open the buy menu for a spawner type from the Buy this spawner button in the spawner's panel.
There is no Slayer level requirement on Survival: every spawner can be bought as soon as you have the mob points.
The spawner item#
A bought spawner is an item named after its mob, for example Zombie Spawner. Its lore shows Generates Zombie drops and XP, the stack size, the production mode, the number of stored items and the stored XP. A stack you withdraw from a placed spawner or pick up with Silk Touch keeps the same form.
Placing a spawner#
- Right-click to place the spawner like any block. Spawners can only be placed inside a claim you own or are a guest of; anywhere else you see
You can only place spawners in claims you own.You also need build permission there. See Land Claims. - A placed spawner is registered to you as its owner.
- Placing a spawner of the same type against an existing spawner stacks them; see Spawner Stacking.
- In survival mode the spawner item is used up when you place it.
Limits#
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Spawner blocks you can have placed at once | 100 (a stack counts as one) |
| Spawner blocks per claimed chunk | 8 at claim tier 1, up to 256 at tier 5: see Claim Upgrades |
| Spawners per stack | 64 |
The messages you may see when a placement is refused: Spawner limit reached! This claim (Tier <tier>) allows <limit> spawners., You have reached your spawner limit., Another spawner is already registered at that block., That space was taken before the spawner could be placed. and That spawner could not be placed. Please try again. If a placement is refused you keep the item.
Picking a spawner up#
- Break a placed spawner with a tool that has Silk Touch. Without it you see
You need Silk Touch to pick up a managed spawner.and the spawner stays. - Breaking removes the whole stack and gives it back as one spawner item that keeps its stack size and upgrades.
- To take back only some of the stack, use the withdraw buttons in the panel instead; see Spawner Stacking.
- Spawners always stand inside a claim, so only players with build permission in that claim can break them. Anyone with that permission can pick up any spawner there with Silk Touch, not only its owner, so trust players with care.
- Spawners that generate naturally in the world cannot be broken at all (
You cannot mine naturally generated spawners.), and are not converted into placeable spawners.
