Prison currencies are the balances you earn while mining. There are three: money, tokens and beacons. Every block you break pays tokens as you mine and puts a drop in your backpack; the drops turn into money when you sell them; and rare beacon blocks pay beacons directly. A fourth, premium currency, gems, is bought with real money and works the same on every gamemode; see Gems.

Prestige wipes your money after the fee is taken. Rebirth wipes money and tokens. Beacons are never wiped. See what prestige resets and what rebirth resets.
How income is multiplied#
Your rebirth count multiplies all three currencies and your prestige count multiplies money and tokens. Boosters and other bonuses add more, and each currency has its own set. The full breakdown, with worked examples, is on Income Multipliers. The shortcuts:
| Source | Money | Tokens | Beacons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prestige | x1.10 per prestige | x1.10 per prestige | |
| Rebirth | x1.5 per rebirth | x1.5 per rebirth | x2 per rebirth |
| Boosters | Money boosters | Token boosters | Beacon boosters |
| Adrenaline Surge | +10% to +20% | +10% to +20% | +10% to +20% |
| Autosell upgrades | Yes |
Other ways to receive currency#
- Pouches hold a random amount of one currency and drop from crates. Some crates also pay money, tokens or beacons straight to your balance.
- Quests pay money and tokens, and achievements pay money, for goals you reach while playing.
- Meteors in prestige mines share a pool of tokens among everyone who helps break them.
- Mine tax is a share of what other players sell while in your mine, at a rate you set (up to 10%, more with a store rank). See Mine Menu and Management.
- The Mining Robot pays you tokens for every block it breaks and money when its haul is sold.
Sewer Shards#
Sewer Shards are a separate currency that belongs to the dungeon. You earn them in the Overgrown Crypt and spend them in the Dungeon Shop, including on 30-minute 1.5x money, token and beacon boosters. See Sewer Shards.
