A pickaxe skin changes how your pickaxe looks and gives it two extras: a passive boost to one kind of income and an exclusive effect that fires through the Skin Mastery enchant. Skins are cosmetics; you collect them from crates and equip one at a time.
Equipping a skin#
Hold your pickaxe and run /pickaxeskin, click Pickaxe Skins in the enchant menu, or use the Pickaxe Skins button in the Prison menu. The Pickaxe Skins screen lists the Default Skin and the skins you own:
| Tile | What it shows |
|---|---|
| A skin you own | "Enchant: (effect), Boost: (boost)" and "Click to select this skin" |
| Default Skin | "Click to remove your skin" |
| Preview All Skins | Opens a preview of every exclusive pickaxe skin, including ones you do not own |
| Current skin | The skin on the pickaxe in your hand, with your Skin Mastery level, its effect and its boost |
| Skin Mastery | Your Skin Mastery level out of 100. Click to open its level screen, which works like any enchant screen |
| Back | Returns to the enchant menu |
| Page arrows | More skins |
Clicking a skin closes the menu and applies it to the pickaxe in your hand. If you no longer own that skin, you see "You don't own this skin!". Your pickaxe lists its active skin in its lore under "Pickaxe Skin".
What a skin does#
- Boost. As soon as a skin is applied, you get its passive +5% to sell value, tokens, drops or beacons while you mine with that pickaxe. It is not tied to your Skin Mastery level.
- Effect. The skin's exclusive effect (a falling-block barrage, a ring of beats, and so on) is a mine-clearing enchant that fires through Skin Mastery. It is not a random roll: Skin Mastery charges as you mine, and fires once you have mined enough blocks, from 5,000 blocks per proc at level 1 down to 500 at level 100. The action bar shows the charge ("Skin Mastery (progress)/(needed)") and chat says "Your Skin Mastery enchant activated: (effect)!". Higher levels also make the effect stronger, in steps every 25 levels. Swapping skins keeps the level and changes the effect.
- No skin, no effect. Without an exclusive skin applied, Skin Mastery does not charge and cannot be levelled: "Apply an exclusive pickaxe skin to level up Skin Mastery!". See Skin Mastery and Pickaxe Enchant Caps.

Where skins come from#
Pickaxe skins are rewards in limited-time lootboxes, and each skin has been offered together with a themed lootbox. Whether a given skin is in a lootbox right now changes as rewards rotate, so do not assume a skin is obtainable; see Prison Crates for what is on offer. Older skins you already own can still be applied, and skins you own stay yours. See Skins for how skins work across the network.
Tips#
- Pick a skin for the income you need: a tokens skin while buying enchants, a sell value skin while ranking up.
- Buying Skin Mastery needs an exclusive skin applied first.
