Beacons are a currency that comes from beacon blocks hidden among your mine's normal blocks. A beacon pays out when you break it, without being sold, and your total counts toward your gang's score. Beacons are never wiped by prestige or rebirth.
Finding beacons#
Whenever your mine generates a block, as it refills the space you have mined, there is a 1% chance it becomes a beacon block instead of an ordinary block. You break it like any other block, and it never goes into your backpack. Instead the game pays you beacons and, if you have the message enabled, shows "You have found a beacon!" at most once every three seconds.
| Chance per generated block | 1% |
| Base value of one beacon block | 1 beacon |
| Paid to | The player who breaks it, with their multipliers |
| Counts as a mined block | No, and it does not use backpack space |
Blocks broken by enchants that clear many blocks at once break beacon blocks too, and each one pays. Like tokens, beacons are added to your balance in batches about every five seconds. The beacon message can be turned off in your settings.
Beacon multipliers#
The base 1 beacon per block is multiplied by the sum of these bonuses:
| Bonus | Size |
|---|---|
| Rebirths | 2 to the power of your rebirth count, as a single bonus (x2 at one rebirth, x4 at two) |
| Beacon booster | A Beacon Booster run by the mine's owner applies to beacons found in that mine, while the owner is on Prison. See Boosters |
| Adrenaline Surge | Your own dungeon surge adds its bonus. See Dungeon Surges and Weekly Prizes |
| Beacon Rush enchant | While it is active (0.5 seconds per enchant level, started by a chance on each break) it adds +100%. See Prison Enchants |
| Pickaxe skin | A skin with a beacon boost adds +5%. See Pickaxe Skins |
| Gang perks | Beacon Radar adds +5% to +25% by level, and War Chest +100% while it runs. See Gang Perks |
The bonuses add together before they multiply the base, so a 2x booster and a rebirth bonus of x4 together give x5. The result is rounded to a whole number of beacons. See Income Multipliers.
Using beacons#
Beacons are mostly a score. A gang's total is the sum of its members' beacons: it ranks the gang on the gang leaderboards (the weekly board counts how much the total grew that week) and unlocks its perk levels, which makes beacons the main competitive currency of Prison. See Gang Beacons. Rewards from the Prestige Crate and Rebirth Crate also pay beacons (250,000 and 1,000,000), and the beacon pouch pays a random amount.

Tips#
- Each beacon block is rare, so the more blocks you break per minute, the more beacons you find. Enchants that clear many blocks at once find several beacon blocks at a time.
- Beacons survive prestige and rebirth, so your beacon total keeps growing from one run to the next.
