Minions are companions that follow you around Prison. You collect them from eggs, equip one at a time, and while it is equipped it gives you a boost, such as more tokens, more money when you sell, extra damage or protection in dungeons, or a potion effect. Minions gain experience as you mine and clear dungeons, and become stronger as they level.
Getting a minion#
There are three kinds of Minion Egg, each tied to a part of Prison. When an egg hatches, the minion goes straight into your collection at level 1 with the message "You found a new minion: (name) (Level 1)!" You can see an egg's possible minions and chances in its item lore.
| Egg | Theme | Minions and their chance |
|---|---|---|
| Ore Egg | Deep Mines | Coal Sprite 45%, Iron Wisp 28%, Redstone Imp 15%, Gold Golem 8%, Diamond Elemental 3%, Emerald Titan 1% |
| Space Egg | Far Stars | Mercury Mite 45%, Venus Charmer 28%, Mars Marauder 15%, Jupiter Juggernaut 8%, Saturn Sentinel 3%, Neptune Tyrant 1% |
| Crypt Egg | Overgrown Crypt | Sewer Rat 45%, Crypt Hound 28%, Sewer Hag 15%, Wraith 8%, Necromancer 3%, Sewer Warden 1% |
See Minion Kinds for every minion and its boost, and Prison Crates for each egg's odds.
Vouchers#
A minion can also exist as an item, a minion voucher, with the name "Lv. (level) (name)" and the line "Right-click to add it to /minions". Right-click it to add that minion, with its level, to your collection: "Redeemed (minion) (Level N)." A voucher is how minions are traded between players, and it is how you move one out of your collection (see below).
The minion menu#
/minions (alias /prisonminions) opens Your Minions, a grid of every minion you own. Each shows its level, rarity, whether it is equipped, its description and boosts, and its XP progress. With none, the menu shows "No minions yet. Hatch a Minion Egg to find one." The Prison menu also has a Minions button.
Click a minion to open Your Minion:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Equip / Unequip | Sends the minion out to follow you and applies its boost, or calls it back. Equipping replaces the minion you already have equipped |
| Turn into a voucher | Opens a confirmation, "Turn into a voucher?", with Yes, give me the voucher and No, keep it. The minion leaves your collection as a tradeable item and keeps its level and XP |
| Back | Returns to the list |
Equipping#
- You can only have 1 minion equipped at a time. Trying to exceed that says "You can only have (limit) minion(s) equipped at once."
- An equipped minion hovers beside you with a nameplate showing its level and name, "Lv. 12 Sewer Rat".
- Its boost applies only while it is equipped, and appears as a source called "Minions" next to your other bonuses.
- Only equipped minions earn experience.
- Your minions are separate from your pickaxe, so prestige and rebirth do not remove them.
Boosts#
A minion's boost grows from its level 1 value to its level 100 value in a straight line: a minion at level 50 has about half of the extra boost. Token and sell value boosts add to your other bonuses; see Income Multipliers. Damage, protection, potion and health boosts affect you wherever effects work; combat boosts matter most in Dungeons.
Leveling#
Minions earn XP from mining by hand and from dungeon kills. Level 100 is the maximum. See Minion Leveling.
