The pickaxe is the one tool you need on Prison. You receive it on your first join, it never wears out, and every point of power in your mining comes from its enchants, which you buy with tokens. What each enchant does is documented on Prison Enchants; this page covers the pickaxe itself, the menus, the prices and the rules around buying and removing enchants.
The item#
| Name | Pickaxe, a blue netherite pickaxe |
| Starting enchants | Efficiency 100 and Fly 1 |
| Durability | None: it never wears out |
| Fly | While you hold the pickaxe you can fly |
| Open the enchant menu | Right-click while holding it, or run /pickaxe (aliases /pick, /enchant) |
You cannot drop your pickaxe ("You can't drop your pickaxe!"), you keep it when you die, and it cannot be moved into chests or other containers. Running the command without the pickaxe in your hand says "You must be holding a pickaxe to do this!". Right-click opening is the Toggle Right-Click menu setting in Prison Options; it is on by default, except for Bedrock players on mobile. A rebirth replaces your pickaxe with a fresh one.
The enchant menu#
/pickaxe opens the Enchanting menu.
- One list. Every enchant is on a single list, sorted by the prestige that unlocks it. Enchants above your prestige stay visible but locked: the tile reads "LOCKED: You need to be Prestige N." and clicking it does nothing.
- Enchant tiles. Each tile shows the enchant's rarity, which follows its unlock prestige (Common at prestige 0, Rare at 1 and 2, Epic at 3 and 4, Legendary at 5 and 6, Mythic at 7 and 8), your level, the maximum level and what it does. A tile glows when you can afford at least one more level and are below your cap.
- Pickaxe Skins. A button showing your active skin and its perks. Skin Mastery is levelled from there rather than from the list. See Pickaxe Skins.
Buying levels#
Click an enchant to open its screen, titled "Enchant (name)":
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| +1, +5, +25, +50, +100 Levels | Buys that many levels at once (fewer if your cap is closer), showing the cost and your new level |
| Max Upgrade | Buys as many levels as you can afford, up to your cap |
| Auto level (green or red) | Turns auto leveling on or off for this enchant |
| Remove enchantments (book) | Opens the unenchant screen |
| Back | Returns to the list |
Tokens stored in the pickaxe (see removing levels) are spent before your balance. On success you see "Enchantment (name) (level) added to your pickaxe for (cost)!" If you cannot pay: "You cannot afford this enchantment!". An enchant stops at its prestige cap ("This enchant is capped at level (cap) for now — reach Prestige (N) to raise the cap!") and at its maximum: "This enchant is at its maximum of (max) — reach Rebirth (N) to raise the maximum!" for enchants whose maximum grows with rebirth, otherwise "This enchantment is at its max level!". See Pickaxe Enchant Caps.
Auto level#
With Auto level on for an enchant, the game buys levels of it for you whenever you can afford them, without you reopening the menu. It runs every 5 seconds while you hold your pickaxe, buys at most 10 levels of an enchant per pass, stops at your cap, and tells you: "Auto level bought (levels) level(s) of (enchant) (now (level)) for (cost)!" See Pickaxe Auto Level.
Removing levels (unenchant)#
The Remove enchantments screen lets you take levels off an enchant with -1, -5, -25, -50 or -100 level buttons, or Remove all (N) levels, which asks you to confirm ("Remove all levels?").
Disenchanting does not give tokens back to your balance. The full value of the removed levels goes into a pool stored in the pickaxe ("Stored Pickaxe Tokens"), and the next time you buy any enchant level the pool is spent first ("Used (amount) stored pickaxe tokens"). This lets you move your investment from one enchant to another for free, but never mints spendable tokens. Two limits apply:
- You only get back tokens you actually paid. The value of levels that came free from an Enchant Token is deducted first, so removing them returns nothing.
- Everything in the pool is lost on rebirth along with the pickaxe.
See Removing Pickaxe Enchants.
Prices#
The price of the next level of an enchant is:
(level + 1) × base price × (1.005 + weight / 1000) ^ level
where level is the level you have now. Buying several levels at once adds up the price of each one. The base price and weight of each enchant are in the table below. Every rebirth multiplies all enchant prices by 1.55. Full price tables are on Pickaxe Enchant Costs.
| Enchant | Level 1 | Level 10 | Level 100 | Level 500 | Level 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fortune | 5K | 53K | 954K | 65M | 3.4B |
| Token Finder | 5K | 53.1K | 968K | 70M | 3.95B |
| Explosive | 10K | 108K | 2.39M | 406M | 66.5B |
| Zeus | 50K | 549K | 14.1M | - | - |
| Nuke | 1M | 11.2M | 342M | 246B | 245T |
Each figure is the price of that single level, with no rebirths.
All enchants#
Maximum level is the level at no rebirths; some enchants gain maximum levels per rebirth. The caps by prestige are on Pickaxe Enchant Caps. Skin Mastery is not on the enchant list and shows no rarity: you level it from the Pickaxe Skins screen, and only while an exclusive skin is applied.

Tips#
- Open your enchant menu after every prestige: new enchants unlock at prestige 1 through 8, and all caps rise.
- Turn auto level on for the income enchants (Fortune, Token Finder) so your tokens never sit idle.
- Do not disenchant just to refund tokens: the refund goes into the pickaxe, not your balance, and only covers what you paid.
