Dungeon Puzzles

How to solve every puzzle in the Overgrown Crypt, covering the lever combo, braziers, runes, flashing sequence and keyholder hunt, with their penalties and rewards.

Some rooms of the Overgrown Crypt are guarded by a puzzle. A puzzle is an objective of its level: the level, and its gate, cannot finish until the puzzle is solved. A puzzle announces itself with "A puzzle bars the way" and a clue, and the clue is also shown as a hologram in the room, titled The Trial. The answer is rolled fresh every run, so it can never be shared between runs.

Lever, brazier and rune puzzles also add score toward your grade. Any standing player in the party can interact with the puzzle blocks, and "player solved the puzzle!" is announced with the reward.

Lever combo#

Several numbered levers stand in the room. The clue is a row of triangles, one per lever, where a filled upward triangle means the lever must be on and a downward triangle means off. Flip the levers until the room matches the clue exactly. There is no penalty for flipping, so you can toggle freely. The puzzle is solved the moment the pattern matches.

Braziers#

Several campfires stand in the room, and the clue reads "all n at once". Light every brazier at the same time. Each brazier burns out 8 seconds after you light it, so the party has to light them quickly, ideally by splitting up. Every brazier must be alight at the same moment. Solving it grants a blessing to the standing party and +200 score.

Runes#

Numbered runes stand in the room, and the clue lists which runes are the true ones. In the live setup you must find 3 true runes. Click the true runes. If you click a false rune it bites you for 6 damage (3 hearts) and your progress resets, so everyone has to start over. Every wrong click is announced to the party ("player chose wrong!").

Sequence puzzle#

Marked blocks flash one after another with a pling. Repeat the order by clicking the blocks. The timing is:

  • The first flash begins 3 seconds after the level starts.
  • Each block flashes about 0.7 seconds after the previous one.
  • If you click the wrong block, you hear a low note, the message says "Wrong block! Watch the sequence again..." and the whole sequence replays after 2 seconds. A wrong click does not hurt you.

Completing it announces "player completed the sequence puzzle!" and opens the level.

Hunt puzzle#

A keyholder is hiding somewhere on the level. The message is "A keyholder is hiding somewhere in this level. Hunt it down!" Defeat it to solve the puzzle ("The keyholder has been slain! The way forward opens.").

Tips#

  • Split the party for braziers, because 8 seconds is not enough time for one player to light them all.
  • Read the clue hologram before touching anything.
  • Keep someone healthy for runes, because a wrong rune costs 3 hearts.
  • A key cannot skip a puzzle. If you spend a key at the gate first, the gate still stays shut until the puzzle is solved. See Dungeon Run Mechanics.
