Prison Options

The Prison switches in the Options menu, what each one turns off, and which messages, effects and menus they control.

Prison Options are the on and off switches that decide which Prison messages and effects you see. They live in the same Options menu as the network-wide settings described on Settings and Options. Every Prison switch starts on, with one exception for mobile players noted below, and each one only changes what you see: none of them changes what you earn.

Changing an option#

Run /options (aliases /settings and /preferences) to open the Options menu. Each switch is one icon with an "Enabled" line that reads YES or NO. Click an icon to flip it; the icon updates at once, and your choice is saved, so it is still in place the next time you log in. The menu has pages, with arrows along the bottom.

The Prison switches#

OptionWhat it controlsDefault

Toggle Beacon Found MessagesThe chat line "You have found a beacon!" when you break a beacon block. It shows at most once every 3 seconds, however many beacon blocks you breakOn
Toggle Rankup EffectsThe effects on a rankup and on a prestige: a Rankup! title with your new rank (a PRESTIGE! title with your prestige number on prestige), a level-up sound and a firework burstOn
Toggle Rankup AlertsThe announcement "(player) just reached rank (N)!" that is sent to Prison players when any player reaches a rank that is a multiple of 100On

Dungeon End AlertsThe "The dungeon has ended" announcement that lists a run's top damage dealers, with each player's damage and share of the total. It is sent to Prison players about 10 seconds after a party clears a dungeon. See Dungeon Run MechanicsOn

The Toggle Receipts icon says it toggles "rank-up receipts". It controls the Mining Summary.

Details and edge cases#

  • Backpack full. Prison backpacks have no capacity limit, so this warning does not appear in normal play. See Backpack and Autosell.
  • Enchant activation. The switch silences only the chat lines. The enchant still triggers, still breaks its blocks and still pays out.
  • Beacon found. The beacons are still added to your balance whether or not you see the message. See Prison Currencies.
  • Rankup effects. The rank itself, the cost and your balance are unaffected. Turning the effects off also turns off the prestige title and firework.
  • Rankup alerts. This switch controls only whether you receive the milestone announcements. Other players keep seeing them according to their own setting, and your own rank is unaffected. The announcement is the one described in Ranks.
  • Receipts. Switching it off only stops the chat message. Players with chat showcase access can still type [receipt] (or [r], [summary]) in chat to share their latest summary.
  • Right-click menu. With it off, hold your pickaxe and use /pickaxe (alias /pick), or the Pickaxe Enchants button in the /prison hub. Bedrock players on mobile start with it off because a right-click is easy to trigger by accident on a touch screen. You can switch it on in the menu.
  • Dungeon end alerts. The switch decides only whether you receive these announcements, including the one for your own party's run. The run and its rewards are unaffected.

Other options#

The Toggle Scoreboard switch hides the Prison sidebar; the command /scoreboard toggle (alias /sb toggle) flips the same setting. See Prison Scoreboard.

The Options menu also holds switches that are not specific to Prison, such as private messages, public chat, the boss bar, the action bar, payments, welcomes and teleport requests. They are described on Settings and Options.

Tips#

  • If chat is busy, Toggle Enchant Activation Messages is the easiest switch to turn off. The enchants themselves are unaffected.
  • Leave Toggle Rankup Effects on while you learn the game: the title is the clearest confirmation that a rank or prestige went through.
