Hub FAQ

Hub FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about the Netherite hub, the selector menus, the mode lobbies and moving between servers.

How do I get from the hub to a gamemode?#

Right-click the nether star in your first hotbar slot, or type /selector, and click the mode you want. See Server Selector.

I closed the selector. How do I open it again?#

Right-click the nether star again, or type /selector. Walking into the hub portal also opens it (Hub Movement).

Where did my hotbar items go?#

The hub gives you exactly two items, the Server Selector nether star in slot 1 and the Hub Selector clock in slot 9, and replaces everything else when you enter the hub. See Hub Items.

Why can't I break blocks, take damage or drop items in the hub?#

The hub is a protected spawn area. Damage, hunger, building, item drops, mob spawning and inventory rearranging are all turned off. See Getting Started in the Hub.

What are "Hub #1", "Hub #2" and so on?#

The network runs several copies of the hub so none gets crowded. The clock item lists them with their player counts so you can move to a quieter one. See Hub Selector.

The hub numbers changed. Is something wrong?#

No. Hub numbers follow the order of the running hub servers, so they shift when a hub restarts or a new one starts.

How do I go back to the hub from a gamemode?#

Type /hub (alias /lobby). See Hub Commands.

What is the lobby, and how is it different from the hub?#

The hub is where you choose a mode. A lobby is a short waiting area in front of one specific mode. You end up there when a mode restarts or when you join with that mode's own address. It sends you back automatically. See Mode Lobbies.

Why does it say "The server is rebooting" and I cannot move or chat?#

You are in a mode lobby while that gamemode restarts. You are held in place, hidden from other players and cannot chat. You are sent back as soon as the mode is ready. If it takes longer than ten minutes you are sent to the mode's spawn instead.

Can I leave the lobby early?#

Yes. Type /hub (alias /lobby) to go to the hub, then pick the mode again from the selector. Every other command is blocked in the lobby. See Mode Lobbies.

What does the "Age" line on a mode button mean?#

It shows how long the current season of that mode has been running. The "Players" line shows how many players are in the mode right now. See Server Selector.

The selector says "Server not found". What now?#

The mode's servers are probably restarting. Wait a few minutes and try again. If it keeps happening, open a ticket (Support Tickets).

Does the double jump cost anything or have a cooldown?#

No. Press jump twice in the air to boost forward. There is no cost and no cooldown. See Hub Movement.

What is the portal in the hub?#

It is a shortcut. Stepping into it pushes you back and opens the Server Selector. Normal portal travel is disabled in the hub.

I joined and was not in the hub. Why?#

If you connected with a mode's own address (for example the Skyblock address) you start in that mode's lobby, not in the hub, and are sent to where you last played. The main address always starts in the hub. See Servers and Gamemodes.

Do cosmetics work in the hub?#

Yes. /cosmetics opens the Cosmetic Drops menu in the hub just as it does in the gamemodes. See Cosmetics Menus and Vouchers and Cosmetics.

I got kicked while playing and landed in the hub. Why?#

If the server you were on stops or crashes, the network moves you to a hub instead of disconnecting you. Pick the mode again from the selector.

Where do I get help if something in the hub looks wrong?#

Open a ticket on the website (Support Tickets) or ask on Discord (Contacting Staff).

Is there a command to join a gamemode without the menu?#

Yes. In the hub type /skyblock, /prison, /lifesteal or /survival. Each does the same as clicking that mode in the selector. See Hub Commands.

How do I find the rules or the Discord from the hub?#

Type /rules for where the rules are published and /discord for the Discord invite. Both work in the hub and in every gamemode.
