Blocks you placed yourself no longer count toward /races challenges, even after a piston pushes or pulls them somewhere else.
Blocks moved by a piston don't count either, even ones the world generated, so a piston can't feed you blocks to break.
Only blocks still where the world generated them count toward your progress.
